Professor Liz Kelly CBE event series

Prominent British researcher and activist Professor Liz Kelly CBE will deliver two ANROWS events and a special interview during her visit to Australia.
Professor Kelly, who has worked in the field of violence against women and children for almost 30 years, will share her policy, practice, and research expertise at a workshop in Sydney and a public lecture in Adelaide.

Professor Liz Kelly CBE is Co-Chair of the End Violence Against Women Coalition UK (EVAW) and Professor of Sexualised Violence at London Metropolitan University.
In 1988 Professor Liz Kelly established the concept of a ‘continuum of violence’ in her highly acclaimed book Surviving Sexual Violence.
This concept transformed the way we think about sexual violence. It recognised commonalities between different forms of violence and identified their connection to structural gender inequality.
Most recently Professor Kelly led Project Mirabal with Professors Nicole Westmarland and Charlotte Watts. Project Mirabal investigates the effectiveness of perpetrator programs in reducing violence and increasing safety for women and children, and the way programs contribute to coordinated community responses to domestic violence.
While in Australia Professor Kelly will deliver a key note address at the Gendered Violence Research Network’s inaugural Asia-Pacific conference on gendered violence and violations in Sydney. She will also appear at several events in Brisbane led by the Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research.
