ANROWS Research Grants
At ANROWS, we periodically fund new research under our grants program.
ANROWS’s most recent grants round closed in February 2024 and focused on the ANRA research priority “People who use domestic, family and sexual violence”.
Successful projects were announced in June 2024 and can be viewed on the research program page.

Funding new research to grow the evidence base
As the leading domestic, family and sexual violence research body in Australia, we fund new research to develop evidence on domestic, family and sexual violence.
Our research grants rounds are drawn from the research priorities in The Australian National Research Agenda (ANRA) to End Violence against Women and Children 2023–2028. These research priorities were established by identifying existing research gaps through evidence reviews, focus groups with victim-survivors, and consultation with other experts such as leading academics and practitioners.
The priorities under the ANRA also align with the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032. Together, these two frameworks coordinate a national approach to developing new research and evidence to prevent and better respond to gender-based violence and support victim-survivor healing and recovery.
All ANROWS research grants are funded by the Commonwealth and/or state and territory governments.
Who can apply
Any Australian organisation that can conduct research is eligible to apply. The lead research organisation must comply with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, 2018.
The Principal Chief Investigator must be an employee of the contracted organisation. Preference will be given to co-designed projects and research partnerships.
While an individual can be listed as a Chief Investigator on multiple applications, they can only be the Principal Chief Investigator on one project.
Current staff and Board members of ANROWS, their immediate families, or companies in which any of the aforementioned hold Director or Management Committee positions are ineligible to apply for funding.
