Statement from ANROWS Board Chair, Sam Mostyn AO
On behalf of the Board of ANROWS I am delighted to congratulate Padma Raman PSM on her appointment to the newly created Executive Director of the Federal Office for Women in Prime Minister and Cabinet.
As a consequence of this appointment, Padma will be leaving ANROWS where she has led the organisation since 2021.
In her time as CEO, Padma has made an extraordinary contribution to reducing violence against women, including firmly embedding ANROWS in the National Plan to End Violence against Women Children 2022-2032.
Padma successfully grew the organisation during her time, including securing additional funding for priority research, strengthening internal research and evaluation capacity, and building the infrastructure of ANROWS to ensure long term sustainability.
Under Padma’s leadership, ANROWS delivered the 2021 National Community Attitudes Survey (NCAS) with a successful launch and dissemination strategy which continues to inform public consciousness and conversation.
Listening deeply and working closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander researchers, Padma has begun the process to deepen ANROWS’ relationship with and support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led research.
As a result of Padma’s leadership both at ANROWS and in the family, domestic and sexual violence sector, ANROWS has become widely recognised as the leading, authoritative voice to end violence against women and children.
The Board has now engaged an external recruiter to commence a rigorous search to find a new CEO to lead ANROWS into the future, as it continues to build the evidence base to end violence against women and children.
The ANROWS Board extends their gratitude to Padma for her leadership of ANROWS and wishes her all the best in her new role.
