Our research

Violence against women and children affects everybody. It impacts on the health, wellbeing and safety of a significant proportion of Australians throughout all states and territories and places an enormous burden on the nation’s economy across family and community services, health and hospitals, income-support and criminal justice systems.

ANROWS was established by the Commonwealth and all state and territory governments of Australia to produce, disseminate and assist in applying evidence for policy and practice addressing violence against women and children.

This webinar will present selected data from Violence against women: Additional analysis of the Australian Bureau of Statistics Personal Safety Survey which was published by Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS) in 2015. Dr Peta Cox, will discuss findings that help us understand what gendered violence looks like, and what can happen after an incident of violence.

Dr Peta Cox is the Senior Research Officer (Research Program) at ANROWS. She has a PhD from the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at UNSW and has worked in project delivery, education and knowledge translation across government and non-government organisations. Dr Cox is the researcher and author of Violence against women: Additional analysis of the Australian Bureau of Statistics Personal Safety Survey.
