Are we there yet? Australians’ attitudes towards violence against women & gender equality: Summary findings from the 2017 National Community Attitudes towards Violence against Women Survey (NCAS)
The National Community Attitudes towards Violence against Women Survey, or NCAS, is a resource for anyone wanting to understand and prevent the serious and prevalent problem of violence against women.
The National Community Attitudes towards Violence against Women Survey, or NCAS, tells us:
- about people’s understanding of, and attitudes towards, violence against women;
- about their attitudes towards gender equality;
- what influences their attitudes;
- if there has been a change over time; and
- whether people are prepared to intervene when witnessing abuse or disrespect towards women.
This is a summary of the 2017 NCAS results, focusing on the Australian community as a whole.
While Australians’ attitudes to violence against women and gender equality are improving, there are some disturbing trends.
A collection of resources to help assist in the communication of NCAS findings and messages can be found on the NCAS microsite
