The forgotten victims:
Prisoner experience of victimisation and engagement with the criminal justice system
August 2018
The research project involved an analysis of interviews with women prisoners about the relationship between their victimisation experiences and engagement with the criminal justice system.
The primary analysis, documenting the experiences of victims, was augmented with an analysis of the views of key stakeholders involved in providing services to this population.
This led to the identification of areas of unmet need, the barriers that exist to service utilisation, and articulation of potential solutions.
