The Burden of Disease of Intimate Partner Violence Against Women
- Thursday, 27th October 2016
-
Please join the launch of the national report, the Examination of the Burden of Disease of Intimate Partner Violence Against Women. The report extends the highly influential study conducted by VicHealth in 2004. The 2016 report examines health outcomes beyond the state of Victoria to provide a rigorous statistical analysis at the national level, exploring the effect of gender violence on wellbeing, illness and death. The study also provides estimates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. The research contributes to population health monitoring and policy development.
The event begins with morning tea followed by the official launch of the report, a panel discussion by experts, and a lecture by our special international guest, Dr Claudia Garcia-Moreno, the World Health Organization’s leading expert on violence against women
This event is being hosted by Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS), in partnership with the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW).
