Health Impact of Violence on Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Women

The upcoming national study to be released on 1 November by Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety, “Examination of the burden of disease,” shows Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women aged 18 to 44 years have 6.3 times higher health risk than other Australian women due to intimate partner violence.
This workshop will use yarning circles to discuss Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and community responses to violence against women. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and health workers, service providers, and other community groups are welcome to this FREE event.
Our special guest is Dr Claudia Garcia-Moreno, the World Health Organization’s lead expert on violence against women.
