Fact sheet

Systems-level change is urgently needed

This fact sheet includes key findings and insights from the 2021 NCAS Findings for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander respondents report.

The attitudes and understandings measured by the NCAS point towards the systemic racism experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Systemic racism is embedded in and perpetrated through the attitudes, norms and practices of non-Indigenous people, services and systems. This causes inequality for, and harm to, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This fact sheet highlights the key findings and insights from the 2021 National Community Attitudes towards Violence against Women Survey (NCAS) Findings for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander respondents report.

The NCAS findings provide insights for systems-level initiatives needed to prevent violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. This fact sheet outlines these insights and summarises the supporting statistics and findings from the NCAS.

This fact sheet will be useful for policymakers, practitioners and advocates working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
