Specialist homelessness services training
Mental Health Coordinating Council (MHCC), RTO No. 91296, provides training for professional development in the community services and health sector. We have secured funding from the NSW Government to deliver nationally recognised training in three units of competency that is centred on specialist homelessness services (SHS). This means that there is no cost to participate in this training course as it is fully subsidised by the NSW Government.
The three units of competency are:
- HLTWHS006 - Manage personal stressors in the work environment (0.5 day)
- CHCCCS003 - Increase the safety of individuals at risk of suicide (1.5 day)
- CHCMHS007 - Work effectively in trauma informed care (2 days)
This course is designed to give SHS workers nationally recognised training and equip them with the skills to handle stress, trauma and the risk of suicide when dealing with clients. Course participants are expected to attend 4 days of training. There are assessments associated with these three units of competency which can be completed in class and at home. When participants complete all the requirements, MHCC will issue a Statement of Attainment which can be used by the participant as credit towards completing a qualification.
Classes will be held in Sydney, Campbelltown, Blacktown and Wagga Wagga. Registration will be accepted until 20 November 2017 for Campbelltown and Wagga Wagga and until 10 December 2017 for Sydney and Blacktown. As places are limited, it will be on a first come first served basis until the places are filled.
